Trick or treat! This greeting phrase is what the kids will say when they dress in their favorite costumes and go door to door to ask for candies on Halloween night. 

Halloween, shortened from the name All Halloween's eve, is celebrated on the night of October 31st. This holiday has its origin from the ancient Celtic celebration of the end of the harvest season. The ancient Gaels believed that on this particular day, the boundary between the alive and the dead disappeared, and the dead could become dangerous to the living by causing problems such as illness and poor harvest.
